My band is supplying music and fun for the upcoming Spring Swap Hop, organized by Jessi of and Molly of Sister in Secondhand Sequins. Bring your old, gently-used clothes at 1 p.m., and then come back at 5 to get some new ones and hear some awesome sounds. This is it – The Minor Leagues’ first music video ever. Chris directed it and did an awesome job. We ran on very little sleep, stayed up late to make these props out of cardboard – I drew the deer myself, and trust me, I am not a draftsman – and accidentally dyed my dog’s foot yellow. [He stepped in my paint bucket. It was tempera. Non-toxic. It wore off after a day.] I called 27 different stage supply shops in the tri-state area to find a green screen, only to find out at the last minute that we knew someone who had one.

At the shoot, which was held at Chris’s office, we accidentally acquired another production assistant, who was supposed to be working with another band shooting a few feet down the road. Johnny and Cassie, the actors in the video, complied patiently with my choreographic whims and took about seventeen tries before it looked like they were actually fighting in the car. Bandmate Ben bought us pizza and beer, and then we had to hide the bottles and caps, ’cause we weren’t supposed to drink in the office.

There’s a whole other video for “Good Boys”, some footage of us playing live, and like I mentioned in my last post about it, a video of me trying to shoot a basketball. Hey, lovelies! Did you have a good week? Are you staying warm and healthy despite all the snow that seems to be blanketing the northern hemisphere? I’ve been working my ass off, as usual, but I’m stoked to be taking a trip next weekend.

Yes, you heard it right here, Amanda Lee is going on the road. The Minor Leagues have a brief midwest tour planned, including two stops in Chicago. So this week I’ll be working extra hours, packing a lot, planning for a dog sitter, and forward-posting so I can enjoy the road time to the max.

So here’s what I want to know from you.

Have you been to Chicago? What kinds of things should I do/see/visit/buy there?

My dad’s family is from right outside Chicago, so I’ve visited a ton. But I’m always up for new perspectives and experiences. Specifically, I want to know what thrift stores/handmade goods shops/yarn shops/Thai restaurants are awesome.
