It seems like everyone is either completely pro-Valentine’s Day, or completely anti-. I’m really just done with the rhetoric of both sides, and ready to enjoy it for what it is – sinful amounts of chocolate, cards exchanged between friends, and time with people you love. It is what it is, neither a huge deal nor something I feel like completely ignoring.
So, when my friends and I decided to have a spontaneous Valentine-making party over the weekend, I got stoked. After brunch was dismissed, we ran to a couple of shops to gather necessary materials – glue, glitter, lace, pompoms, cuttings from an old dictionary, and stick-on jewels – and then reconvened with snacks and the entire library of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. And then we got cracking.

Chris drew me a card by hand. [Yes, he went to art school.]
Did you all make your own cards?
