- Getting my taxes done early. The last three years have found me stressed as hell on April 15, furiously tearing my desk apart to look for receipts and 1099s. Not this time; I’ve set a personal deadline to have an accountant appointment by January 31. I’ll let you know how it goes.
- Starting an ING Orange savings account. I already have a regular savings account through my bank, so saving is already a habit. But the interest rate is really low, and transferring my money to an ING account will be just as easy and give me better benefits. [Psst: I did this upon Ramit's sugggestion, who is a personal finance genius. Read his blog and you'll learn tons. You're welcome.]
- Drinking less. I don’t know the science behind this, but champagne hangovers are worse than any other kind, and I definitely overdid it with champagne on New Year’s Eve. It left a sour taste in my mouth [literally!] and as a result, I’m taking a break from drinking for awhile. Besides, all the better to stay in and play with fabric and yarn and glue, or watch French films on Netflix, or practice piano, or bake an amazing sweet potato casserole, all of which are my new favorite things to do.
- Wearing better shoes, and taking better care of them in general. I’m super-jealous of Nubby Twiglet’s shoe collection, so I’ve started a plan to make awesome shoes attainable for me [it involves a sub-account in the aforementioned ING Orange account, fyi—so easy and useful!]. Also, I’ve made friends with the shoe repair specialist at an awesome vintage/reconstructed clothing warehouse here in Cincinnati, so that I can take care of my pretty footwear throughout its life.
- Being less shy about promoting my knitwear line. Did you guys know that I knit? Did you know that in the last quarter of 2009, I made almost half my income from selling knitted things? Did you know that I have two shops in Cincinnati that carry my items? Did you know I do custom orders, and I love a challenge? Well, you do now…and you will. Ad nauseum. Look for upates later this week to my Etsy shop. Plus, if you’re good, you might see a giveaway here in the next couple of months. If you’re really good. Wink!
How is 2010 treating you so far?

I loooooove my ING accounts, and definitely have sub accounts set up for goodies! If you haven’t set it up yet, let me know– they do referral’s were you get $25 for setting up an account (and I think I get $10)?
