Pretty Old Things is a new feature on AmandaLee.org. Tell me what you think!

Last week in sculpture class, my friend Victoria gave me something awesome.

Threads Magazine featured content relating to all different aspects of sewing and textile arts. In short, it's amazing. Just look at this:

Why, yes, that is a Balenciaga dress and the muslin used to make it. [This is the sound of me dying happy.]

That drapery! I don’t imagine it would be too hard to copy those sleeves. And I’m thinking I might do it next winter.

Tailoring for women kind of makes me hot. There, I said it. Does anyone see me in that fawn-colored set in the middle, complete with hat? Mmmhmm, that’s what I thought.

Pattern drafting at its finest. [Did I mention I'm learning how to do this?]

This woman is sewing a sail. Y’know, for a sailboat. That thing is massive. The mag also included a picture of her drafting the pattern for this sail in a room that looked to be about the size of the main hall at the Met.

I have no idea what these beaded fish are used for. But they’re so pretty that I kinda want one. Don’t you?
