One of my blog blogging idols did a post like this, and I’m going to be a copycat. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

  1. I have never in my life eaten macaroni and cheese. I tried a bite in a restaurant in 2007, and spit it out. I don’t know why it repulses me so much.
  2. In undergrad, I majored in political science and economics. I wanted to get a PhD/JD and become a professor. . . until I realized that I liked writing way more than I liked studying.
  3. I’ve been a ballet dancer and a classical musician since age two. My parents, both professional musicians, made me do both, but I loved it a lot. In 2005 and 2006, I danced with a semi-professional ballet company in Ohio and taught ballet to preteens until an injury made it pretty hard for me to continue. I still play music, but I don’t have room for a piano in my tiny apartment!
  4. I am the universal exception to the proverbial “It’s just like riding a bike”: I forgot how to ride a bike sometime during college.
  5. I was adopted at the age of one week. My parents never kept it a secret from me.
  6. I lived on campus for the entire four years of college. I didn’t get my own off-campus apartment until I was nearly 23.
  7. My favorite cities are, in order: New York, Kyoto, Louisville/Cincinnati (tied), Savannah, and Chicago.
  8. Past and current jobs I’ve had: long-term substitute art teacher; barista; public relations coordinator/event planner; copy editor/proofreader; freelance writer; model; ballet and modern dance instructor; administrative assistant to my dad (no, seriously).
  9. I’m secretly a personal finance geek. I used to balance my checkbook twice a day. Now I have a specific iCal function for calculating my savings deposits, automatic bill payments, and weekly shoe/food/bourbon/fun budget. During one of the funnest dates I’ve ever been on, I got tipsy with a boy and we talked about the Roth IRAs we want to buy someday.
  10. My dog, Hachiko, is named for a famous dog from Japan. His name means “faithful friend.” When I went there to visit in 2005, I saw the Hachiko statue. I secretly want to take my Hachiko to Japan and get a picture of him with the Hachiko statue.

Okay, kitties. . . what makes you unique? What does no one know about you?
