Not really so much an inspiring quote today, but one that’s ever-so-relevant to the changing seasons. (Full disclosure? I almost burst into tears today on the way to work when I saw the prettiness of the leaves along Bushwick Avenue.) This is from The Secret History, which several of my friends have agreed is the perfect fall book.
“Trees are schizophrenic now and beginning to lose control, enraged with the shock of their fiery new colors. Someone–was it van Gogh?–said that orange is the color of insanity. Beauty is terror. We want to be devoured by it, to hide ourselves in that fire which refines us.”
Donna Tartt, The Secret History
Do you love it?
