“You wait for fate to bring about the changes in life which you should be bringing about yourself.”

In one of my favorite books ever, one of the main characters develops a habit of writing quotes on one-dollar bills before using them. The quotes that he writes are descriptions of the tragic flaws that every one of his friends have. The quote above is one of those. . . and every time I read it, I’m reminded that I don’t want my tragic flaw to be this one. It kicks my ass into gear, surely.
